Meet our leadership team

Francisco Beltrán Muñoz has been part of the Newton College community for more than twenty years. He joined the school in 2003 as Head of the Philosophy Department, having studied Philosophy at the Universities of Valencia and Murcia. His academic background in reason, dialogue and values has profoundly shaped his understanding of education and continues to define the educator he is today: someone deeply committed to responsibility, knowledge and respect.

Over the past two decades, Francisco has grown alongside the school, taking on a range of roles and responsibilities. He progressed from Head of Philosophy to Head of Humanities and subsequently assumed leadership positions as Key Stage 3 and Secondary Coordinator, Head of Sixth Form and IB Diploma Programme Coordinator. He has been a member of the Senior Leadership Team since 2020. Throughout each of these roles, his purpose has remained the same: to contribute to a high-quality education with an international outlook, always centred on the needs of students and the wider school community.

Francisco’s approach to working with people is grounded in listening, critical thinking and open dialogue. His ability to build positive relationships based on empathy and respect enables him to connect with people from a wide range of perspectives and to contribute meaningfully to a diverse and international community such as Newton College. For Francisco, education has real purpose when it is built on dialogue, when knowledge is placed at the service of people, and when an environment is created in which every student can grow and flourish. He firmly believes that a school should be designed and managed to serve its community, always placing the wellbeing of every child first.

Ángel Antonio Barrajón Belén is a mathematician and passionate educator with more than 23 years of experience teaching mathematics across different educational stages. He joined the Newton College community in 2003 and has since built a strong professional career at the school, driven by his passion for teaching and academic rigour.

Throughout his time at the school, Ángel has taken on a range of leadership roles focused on academic and organisational excellence. He has served as Head of the Mathematics Department, Deputy Head of Sixth Form, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Coordinator and coordinator of the PILOS Chess Project. He is now embarking on a new chapter as Head of Sixth Form, combining this leadership role with his passion for teaching.

For Ángel, mathematics education goes beyond the classroom; it is a key tool for developing analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and decision-making. He believes it is essential to provide students with a structured and stimulating environment that combines academic endeavour with values such as perseverance, empathy and personal responsibility.

On a personal level, Ángel is the father of two children and is passionate about music, football and chess, a discipline he has actively promoted among students as a means of developing strategic thinking. His strong commitment to Newton College is reflected in his daily dedication to supporting students during a crucial stage of their education, preparing them with both academic rigour and a personal approach to successfully meet their future university and personal challenges.

Stephen Scott is a dedicated educator with a degree in Film and Media Studies. After working in the film and advertising industries, he returned to his former school to teach Communication and Media Studies, driven by a passion for education and storytelling.

Since joining Newton College in 2018, Stephen has embraced the opportunity to give back to both colleagues and students, while continuing to learn and grow in his role. As Designated Safeguarding Lead and a Communication and Media Studies teacher, he plays a key role in ensuring a safe and inspiring learning environment. In 2026, he begins a new chapter as Deputy Head of Secondary and Middle Years Programme Coordinator.

Stephen believes that education begins with creating an environment where students feel safe, encouraged and eager to learn. Beyond academic achievement, he values empathy, assertiveness and critical thinking as essential qualities for students’ personal development.

For Stephen, Newton College is home — a place deeply connected to his personal and professional identity. His mission is to help make the school a safe and supportive environment where students can express themselves, build meaningful relationships and grow into confident individuals, prepared to face the world that lies ahead.

Francine Turner is a passionate and dedicated educator and the Head of Primary at Newton College, with a strong commitment to creating an inclusive, nurturing and inspiring learning environment where every child is valued, supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. A UK trained teacher who holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Surrey, she has over 30 years of experience in Primary and additional needs education, including 20 years in the international sector. She joined the Newton College community in 2013 and has since become a key part of the school community.

Throughout her career, Francine has been committed to providing a high-quality education that recognises the individual strengths, needs and potential of every child. Her experience in Primary and additional needs education has shaped her belief that every student deserves to feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed. As a NABSS Inspector, she has had the privilege of visiting schools throughout Spain, gaining valuable insight into educational standards and best practices that continue to inform her leadership.

Francine’s connection to Newton College is also deeply personal. Both of her children attended the school and have gone on to achieve First-Class Honours degrees in their respective fields. She feels particularly proud of their achievements and the knowledge, skills and values they developed during their time at Newton. Their journey has strengthened her belief in the importance of providing students with the foundations they need to flourish, both academically and personally.

At the heart of Francine’s educational philosophy is the belief that every child has the right to learn and that every child is gifted in a different way. She believes that children flourish when their individual strengths are recognised, their needs are understood and they are given the confidence and opportunities to reach their potential. Her vision for Primary is learning for life, fostering a love of learning while equipping students with the knowledge, skills and personal qualities they need for the future.

As Head of Primary, Francine is committed to working collaboratively with teachers, families and the wider school community to ensure that every child receives the very best educational experience. Students are at the heart of every decision she makes, and she believes that high expectations, care and respect go hand in hand. Her extensive experience, dedication to education and personal connection to Newton College continue to shape her leadership and commitment to the success and wellbeing of every student.

Sarah Moran is a passionate and dedicated educator, and the Head of Early Years (EYFS) at Newton College. Having earned a First-Class Honours degree in Primary Teaching from Liverpool Hope University, Sarah has a real passion for education and brings a wealth of experience to her role. Originally from Stoke-on-Trent in the UK, she moved to Spain and joined the Newton College community in 2015.

Since joining the team, Sarah has become a key part of the school community. She started as a classroom teacher and soon began to take on middle leadership roles like Subject Leader for Science and Humanities and KS1 Coordinator. Her dedication saw her join the Senior Leadership Team in 2017. In her current role, alongside leading the Early Years, she also looks after curriculum coordination and is the Head of Health and Safety for the whole school.

At the heart of Sarah's teaching philosophy is the belief in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom where every child feels secure and valued. She is passionate about sparking a lifelong love of learning and uses all sorts of interactive and collaborative activities to help children reach their full potential. She believes in setting high expectations for both behaviour and learning, making sure her pupils are not just ready for the next academic step, but are also equipped with life skills to help them flourish.

As a senior leader, Sarah is deeply committed to building a supportive and collaborative community. She spearheads a range of whole-school learning projects, fostering a true partnership in education. She feels very proud to be part of the Newton College community and is driven by her dedication to making sure the youngest children get the very best start to their school lives.

Miquel A. Amorós is a passionate educator dedicated to teaching, personal development and the wellbeing of students. After several years gaining professional experience in schools across the UK and Barcelona, he decided to return to his homeland to bring everything he had learned to the Newton College community.

In his leadership roles, Miquel works closely with the teaching team to guide, support and inspire teachers in their day-to-day work, ensuring that every classroom is a place where students enjoy learning, overcome challenges with confidence and strive to be the best they can be.

For Miquel, education is a shared endeavour that extends far beyond the classroom. That is why he places great importance on building close, transparent and trusting relationships with families, strengthening their sense of belonging to the Newton College community day by day. Warm, approachable and committed, Miquel approaches his work with the enthusiasm of someone who feels at home, always striving to ensure that students, their families and the teaching team feel heard, supported and accompanied every step of the way.

Carlos Albentosa is a passionate professional with a degree in Business Administration. With a deep belief in the power of education to shape a better future, Carlos is committed to contributing to an institution that supports students in their journey to success.

Carlos joined Newton College on January 8, 2012, initially providing support in the accounting department. Through dedication and continuous training, he rose through the ranks and now serves as the Financial Director, overseeing the financial operations that ensure the school’s smooth and efficient functioning.

As Financial Director, Carlos plays a pivotal role in the management of the school’s finances, helping to create an environment where students and staff can thrive. His leadership is guided by the core values of respect and ambition, believing that it is essential for everyone to respect one another and be ambitious in their pursuits.

Carlos takes great pride in being part of the Newton College community, feeling personally connected to the institution’s mission. His commitment to helping the school function effectively is driven by the desire to ensure both students and staff are happy and fulfilled in their educational journey.

Mari Carmen Albert is a highly dedicated professional with a Higher Degree in Administration. Her extensive background in administrative management has shaped her passion for supporting educational institutions and ensuring their smooth operation.

Mari Carmen joined Newton College in January 2012, initially working in the Secretariat, where she quickly became an integral part of the team. Over the years, her role evolved and today she serves as the Head of Administration, playing a crucial role in maintaining the efficient day-to-day operations of the school.

Her approach to education is deeply rooted in her belief that students should develop resilience, cultural curiosity and a multicultural mindset. As both a member of the staff and a mother, Mari Carmen brings a unique perspective to her work, always striving to ensure that both students and colleagues can thrive in an inclusive, supportive environment.

Mari Carmen takes immense pride in being part of the Newton College community, which she describes as a place of continuous learning for both students and staff. Her commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative atmosphere is what drives her to excel in her role every day.

Federico Gracía de las Bayonas is a dedicated professional with a background in Technical Surveying Engineering. Though his career initially led him down a different path, life’s twists and turns guided him toward the world of education, where he has found a meaningful and rewarding purpose.

He joined Newton College in November 2022, coinciding with the start of the renovation of the Marie Curie building. From that moment on, he has been on a continuous learning journey, gaining valuable insights from his colleagues and team.

As the Facilities Manager, he is responsible for overseeing the school's infrastructure and ensuring that all spaces are safe, functional and conducive to learning. His role is crucial in maintaining an environment where students and staff can thrive.

He firmly believes that respect, love and joy are essential values - not just for Newton College students, but for all children. These principles serve as a foundation for their growth and development, fostering a positive and enriching educational experience.

What truly inspires him about being part of Newton College is the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of students. The ability to improve the school’s facilities while continuing to learn every day fuels his passion for his work, strengthening his deep connection with the institution’s mission.

Macarena Hernández is an accomplished professional with a background in Journalism from the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche, a Master’s in Marketing and Communication Management from the Universidad Juan Carlos I and a Master’s in Digital Marketing and E-Commerce from the University of Barcelona.
Macarena joined Newton College in February 2024 as Head of Marketing. In just one year, she has embraced the opportunity to lead the marketing team and drive the college’s communication strategy. This period has been full of growth, challenges and collaboration with an inspiring group of people.
Macarena is committed to ensuring Newton College’s identity reflects its academic excellence and core values of unity, empathy and belonging. She focuses on building meaningful connections with the community and promoting the school’s story through strategic communication. For her, it’s about people, teamwork and seeing the school’s message resonate with families and students.

Since completing her studies, Marina’s professional career has always been closely connected to working with children. She has been part of the school community for more than 10 years, during which time she has had the opportunity to work and grow professionally, particularly in Early Years Education.

As a member of the Safeguarding Team, Marina believes it is essential that every child sees the school as a safe place where they feel listened to, respected and supported. She is proud to contribute to creating an environment of trust and wellbeing where children can learn and develop to their full potential.

As a mother of two children, she also understands how important it is for families to know that their children are in an environment where they are cared for, understood and supported, with their wellbeing always at the heart of the school’s work.
