We are very proud to share the results achieved by Newton College students in the May 2026 examination session of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. A total of 36 students sat the examinations, achieving an average of 32.03 points out of 45. 86% obtained the Diploma, while 64% achieved the Bilingual Diploma.

These results are above the worldwide average for the Diploma Programme, which was 30.88 points, with a graduation rate also higher than the worldwide figure (82.61%), and reflect the hard work and commitment of our students, the support of their families and the work of the teaching team in providing an education that combines strong academic preparation with the skills needed to thrive in an international environment.

Performance by subject confirms this advantage. Newton College exceeds the worldwide average in 17 of the 23 subjects taken by its students, with differences of more than one point out of 7 in Higher Level Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies, Psychology, Visual Arts and Spanish B. All students achieved a grade of 4 or higher in their Language and Literature subjects, both in English and Spanish. In addition, almost one in three students achieved 35 points or more, four achieved 40 points or more, and the highest score was 43 out of 45.

The Diploma Programme combines in-depth study across different areas of knowledge with the development of skills such as research, critical thinking, communication and independence. It is a form of learning that seeks to ensure that students do not simply acquire knowledge, but learn how to use, connect and apply it in different contexts.

The percentage of Bilingual Diplomas achieved in this examination session also reflects the importance of languages within our educational approach and the preparation of our students to continue their education in national and international contexts.

Educational continuity through the International Baccalaureate

At Newton College, we offer an International Baccalaureate educational pathway that begins in Secondary with the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and continues in Sixth Form with the Diploma Programme (DP).

This continuity allows students to gradually become familiar with the IB approach and develop skills that accompany them throughout their educational journey. Research, reflection, critical thinking and the ability to connect different areas of knowledge are part of a learning process that evolves as students progress through each stage.

When they reach Sixth Form, students can choose between the National Bachillerato and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, according to their interests, objectives and academic plans. In this way, we offer different pathways for continuing their education, while maintaining our commitment to a demanding and future-oriented education.

The MYP as a Foundation for Continued Learning

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) forms part of our educational approach during the Secondary stage and provides a foundation for students who subsequently continue with the Diploma Programme.

Beyond the content of each subject, the MYP promotes a way of learning based on research, reflection and connections between different disciplines. Students work to understand not only what they are learning, but also how they can apply this knowledge and relate it to the world around them.

In the June 2026 examination session, the 118 students assessed achieved an average of 4.73 out of 7 in the MYP Personal Project, 18% above the worldwide average (4.00). The Personal Project is the individual research project that culminates the programme and is externally moderated by the IB, meaning that this result reflects the independent research skills that our students develop before reaching Sixth Form.

This continuity between the MYP and the Diploma allows students to progressively build the competencies needed to face a more specialised and independent academic stage.

An International Education from Elche

Newton College's academic preparation is also reflected in the results achieved within the national education system. In the June 2026 examination session of the University Entrance Examination (PAU), Newton College achieved the second-highest average among the 85 schools in the Miguel Hernández University district, with a 100% pass rate and an average of 7.45 in the compulsory phase, more than one point above the average for the Valencian Community (6.36) and also above the average for private schools in the district (6.94).

The difference is particularly noticeable in English, where the average was 9.44 compared with 7.16 for the district. Of the 40 students who sat the examination, 33 achieved a score of 9 or higher and ten achieved the maximum grade. Overall, our students exceeded the district average in 13 of the 15 subjects they took, and one in four achieved an admission score of 9 or higher before adding the voluntary phase.

These results show that students following the National Bachillerato also receive strong preparation for university admission.

The international dimension is part of our educational identity. Language learning, exposure to different perspectives and preparation for functioning in diverse contexts are elements that accompany students throughout their journey at Newton College.

In addition, being part of International Schools Partnership (ISP) connects us with an international educational community made up of schools, students and professionals from different countries. This network offers opportunities to share experiences, establish connections and broaden students' perspective beyond their immediate environment.

We understand international education as a way of preparing students for a constantly changing world, providing them with solid knowledge while also equipping them with the tools to communicate, analyse different perspectives and adapt to new contexts.

The 2026 results are a source of pride for the entire Newton College community. The progression from the MYP to the Diploma Programme, together with the results achieved in both the IB and the PAU, reflects an educational approach that offers different pathways and supports students at every stage.

But our work does not end with a grade or university admission. We want every student to develop the confidence, independence and ability to continue learning that they will need to take the next steps in their academic and personal lives.
